Never lose your faith in India...

Day 3 - and already I thought it would be difficult to find the topic for my letter. The thing is that I've spent most of my day planning my family's visit in February and sitting on one of the steps learning Hindi grammar. So when I brought the camera out, I didn't really expect today to be one of the good ones...

The staff wanted me to take a picture of Sanjay sleeping in the sun. The laughing and kidding while I took the picture, would perhaps have been sufficient for today's story.

But then India proved herself to be India! I walked to Byasi, the nearest village with shops - well, sort of shops... And then they came... The stories...

The deity statue that is also a water tap

  India's No. 1

The tiny pickle truck with the pickle seller

The car stopping to throw nuts to the monkeys - and the monkey gathering. Horribly annoying by the way - it makes the monkeys used to being fed by humans.

And last, but absolutely not least, the family from Kedarnath, who'd stopped to take pictures in front of the beautiful bourgonvillea in Byasi as I passed by. They asked me to come over and have a photo taken with them. And why not ask them to click one for me as well? In Hindi of course!
