Last night I was sitting at the fire with three of the staff members. We spoke - in Hindi (yes, I'll keep mentioning it) - about the fact that one of them is getting married in April, that I can't come because I've gone back to Denmark, that I don't yet know when I'll be back etc. etc. The guy who's getting married, Barra Umesh (big Umesh there's also a small Umesh) is from Orissa in Central India. Therefore he speaks Hindi but not Garwhali. At one point Arvind asks Umesh: "Why haven't you learned to speak Garwhali yet? You've been here for 2 years. Madam (aka me) has been here for three months and she already speaks Hindi." I still keep my arms up!
Vinod has broken his arm. He's working in the kitchen and hence, can't do his tasks there. Instead, he's having guard duty till his arm recovers. And the regular guard is meanwhile helping somewhere else at Atali. Everybody's happy not least Vinod, who likes his new job. I was allowed to take a picture of him and the arm, but only if I also took one without the arm.
I went to camp later and were received by Ragu and Tagu (Jaisingh and Jeetu), who'd just gotten new boards in Rishikesh and thought I should be welcomed properly. Lunch in camp - as always served with that extra little touch of love and care.
And finally, a picture just because it's nice. Of a small boy herding goats. I met him and his goats on my morning cycling.
